Diego Conti
Diego Conti studied at the Mozarteum Academy of Salzburg under the guidance of
Sandor Vegh, and started his career playing with several prestigious groups such
as the Mozarteum's Camerata Academica in Salzburg, the Solisti Veneti and the
Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
He performed as concert master with important italian orchestras, like Maggio
Musicale Fiorentino, V. Bellini Theatre in Catania and the Opera House of Rome under
the conduction of directors like Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini, Georg Solti,
Eduardo Mata, Antal Dorati etc. In the same time devoting himself to a solo career
that brought and brings him to tour in Europe, South Africa, USA, Canada, India,
Middle and Far East.
He works for radio, television and cinema, and recorded for EMI, Erato, Nuova Era,
Harmonia Mundi, Edipan and Sculture d'Aria.
His world premiere of P.A.Locatelli’s “L'arte del violino” was considered by the
english magazine Gramophone best recording of the year, and the same was for the
italian newspaper L'Unità about his recording of Zappa, Lutoslawski, Lupone and Pärt.
He is also playing contemporary music, giving many premieres of works often dedicated
to him.
Diego Conti is a member of ContrasTango, concert master and conductor of Gli Archi
di Firenze and concert master and conductor of the Orchestra Città Aperta.
As a composer he wrote several chamber music works, some of them recorded for the
label Olga.
He wrote music for the theatre and text and music of three operas:
La Pioggia Oscura, Il canto della Sirena, Marlowe.
He is chamber music professor at the Monopoli's Nino Rota Conservatorium.
